Skipping a season without canceling the plan
Last updated October 03, 2026
To skip a single season for a customer, generate the season as normal and cancel just that one job — the service plan keeps rolling forward and next season generates for them like any other year, while stopping it would end it for good.
The customer is renovating and wants no dock this year — but they’ll be back next spring, and they’ve been with you eleven years. You want this season skipped and nothing else touched. There’s a right way to do that, and a trap that looks like it.
Stopping a service plan is not a skip
Stopping a service plan stops it for good, not for a year. Nothing generates for that customer this season or any season after, and the pending job they already have is canceled with it — which is right, because a crew should not be left holding work for a customer who has gone. It is the correct move for somebody who sold the cabin, and the wrong one for somebody who is back next year.
It is reversible: start them again and the service plan rolls forward from the next season. What it does not do is bring back the job it canceled — the season will offer to generate that.
The supported way to skip one year
Leave their service plan alone. Generate the season as normal, open the job it created for them, and cancel that job.
A canceled job is a stop that isn’t going to happen: it comes off the map’s open work and out of the crew’s pool, and it stays in the record with the reason it didn’t run. The service plan doesn’t feel it at all. And the skip sticks — a season only ever holds one job per plan, and the canceled one is it, so generating again later (for a new customer, say) won’t resurrect the stop.
Next year: nothing to remember
This is the point of doing it this way. The service plan kept rolling forward, so next season counts the customer like everyone else and generating creates their work as if nothing happened. No note on the whiteboard, no “remember to re-add the Hendersons” in anybody’s head.
If you already stopped them
One click back. Find them on the service plans list, tick them, and press Start them again. The service plan rolls forward from then on, and if they should be working this season the season’s Season details will offer to generate the job they are missing — only the missing one is created.
One honest note about the bill
Skipping this way still generates a job for the property, so the property still counts as serviced for the next twelve months of your LakeOps bill — canceling work never lowers the count. For one renovating customer that’s at most a dollar a month; the reason to know it is so the number on your bill doesn’t surprise you.
