Terms of Service
Between LakeOps and the company that uses it. Short, in plain words, and honest about the parts that are not in your favour.
In effect since August 28, 2026
These terms are between LakeOps and the company that uses it: a dock, lift and shoreline service business. They are written to be read once, by an owner, without a lawyer.
What we provide
LakeOps is software for running a dock and lift service business: customers, properties, items, seasons, dispatch, a field app for crews, and billing your customers for completed work. We host it, keep it running, back it up, and support you by email.
Unlimited users are included. You are billed on properties under service, not on people. Adding a crew member never costs more, because a crew member left off the app to save a seat is half a season not recorded.
What it costs
The published price list applies, and the version you signed under is the version you keep — publishing a new one does not move an existing account. Your terms are itemised in Settings → Your LakeOps plan.
Billing starts the day you generate your first season, and not before. The term is twelve months, billed monthly in advance. Refunds are governed by our refund policy, which forms part of these terms.
Payments your customers make
You are the merchant on every payment your customers make. Money moves directly to your own Stripe account. Your name is on your customer's statement, your bank receives the payout on Stripe's schedule, and disputes are between you and your customer. LakeOps charges a service fee per payment, disclosed on the pricing page and on your payments settings screen.
Because you are the merchant, your refund and cancellation policy is yours to write. You publish it in Settings → Payments and we show it to your customers before they pay. We strongly recommend having one: it is the first thing asked for when a customer disputes a charge, and a payment page without one is a dispute you are likely to lose.
Using LakeOps to take payments also means agreeing to Stripe's Connected Account Agreement. We do not hold your money at any point.
Your data
It is yours. Your customers, properties, jobs, photos, timers and history belong to you. You can export them at any time, including after cancelling, and we will help if the export you need is not one of the buttons.
We use your data to run the service for you and for nothing else. We do not sell it, and we do not train anything on it. We access an account's records only to support you, to investigate a fault, or where the law requires it — and every staff access is recorded on the account's own activity log, where you can see it.
Availability
We aim for LakeOps to be available whenever you are working, and we treat a spring morning as the moment that matters most. We do not offer a contractual uptime percentage; we offer the refund stated in the refund policy when a sustained failure stops you working, without requiring you to prove what it cost.
The field app is built to keep working when the network does not. Crews can work a whole day out of signal and sync when they return. That is a design commitment, not a guarantee about any particular device or lake.
What you agree not to do
Do not use LakeOps to break the law, to send mail your recipients did not ask for, or to store other people's data you have no right to hold. Do not attempt to reach another company's account. Do not resell access to LakeOps as your own product without a written agreement with us.
Email sent through LakeOps goes to your own customers about their own work. One shop's bad address list can get sending suspended for every shop on the platform, so we suppress addresses that bounce or complain, and we may pause sending for an account that generates them at a rate that puts everyone else at risk.
Ending the agreement
You may cancel at any time; see the refund policy for what that means for the current term. We may end an account for non-payment after the dunning process has run, or immediately for the acceptable-use breaches above.
We do not delete your records when billing stops. An account that has stopped paying keeps read access to its own history, reports and customer records. That is both the promise and, honestly, the leverage.
Changes to these terms
We will tell you by email before a change that affects what you pay or what you may do, and the date at the top of this page always says when the current version took effect. Continuing to use LakeOps after that date is acceptance of it.
