Closing your account and deleting your data
Last updated August 21, 2026
Closing your account from Settings schedules permanent deletion of everything in it thirty days later — reversible by you for the whole of that window, and irreversible after it, with no backup to restore from.
You can close your account and have everything in it destroyed, from inside LakeOps, without asking us. This page is what happens when you do — including the parts that are not in your favour, because after thirty days there is no undo and no backup we can restore you from.
Where it is
Settings → Your LakeOps plan → "Close the account and delete everything". You type your shop's name to confirm. That is not theatre: it is the difference between a mis-tap and a decision, on the one screen in LakeOps with no undo behind it.
Thirty days first
Nothing is destroyed on the day you ask. Your account closes immediately and the data is deleted thirty days later. For the whole of that window you can call it off yourself, from the same screen, and everything is exactly as you left it. After the window, nobody can — not you and not us.
What is destroyed
- Every customer and their contact details
- Every property, its pins, its zones, and every item on it
- Every job, completed item, timer and note
- Every photograph your crews ever took — removed from our storage, not merely unlinked
- Every price, payment record, receipt and report inside LakeOps
- Everybody's sign-in to this account
What does not go, and why
The rest of your term is still billable. Closing early does not refund it — the same rule as canceling, and it is on the confirmation screen. See our refund policy.
Stripe keeps its own record of what your customers paid. You are the merchant on those payments — the money went to your bank, not ours — so those are Stripe's books under Stripe's retention rules. We cannot delete them and neither can you; that is what being the merchant means.
A person who works for two shops keeps the other one. Closing your account removes their access to yours and nothing else. If somebody only ever worked for you, their sign-in goes entirely.
We keep the fact that the account existed and was closed, and our own billing history for it, because we are required to.
Take what you want first
Every report exports to CSV from the screen you read it on, and the completed-work report also renders a PDF — see getting your data back out. Do it before the thirty days are up. Afterwards there is nothing to export from, which is the point.
This is not the same as canceling
Canceling your subscription stops the renewal and keeps every record readable. Most people leaving want that one. Closing the account is for when you want the data gone as well.
