The LakeOps Payments fee, worked through

LakeOps Payments charges a percentage of each payment — 1% as standard, shown on Settings → Payments — worked out on the part of the payment that is not sales tax and rounded to the nearest cent, so a $1,068.75 payment for $1,000 of work plus tax carries a $10.00 fee.
LakeOps charges a service fee on payments your customers make through LakeOps Payments, and nothing else. This page is the arithmetic, with real numbers, so you can check any payment yourself.
The rate
1% of each payment, as standard. The rate for your account is printed on Settings → Payments — in the panel before you turn LakeOps Payments on, and under “LakeOps Payments is on” once you have. There is no monthly charge for LakeOps Payments, no minimum, and no fee at all on checks, cash or anything else you record by hand.
It is never charged on sales tax
The fee is worked out on the payment minus its sales tax. Tax is the state’s money passing through your hands, and taking a percentage of it would be charging you a fee on somebody else’s money.

A job with no tax is simpler still: a $1,540.00 removal paid in full carries a $15.40 fee.
Rounding
To the nearest cent, and exactly half a cent rounds up. 1% of $1,234.50 is $12.345, so the fee is $12.35; 1% of $1,234.40 is $12.344, so the fee is $12.34.
When a customer pays in parts
Each payment is charged its own fee, and the tax is counted as paid first. On the $1,068.75 job above, a customer who pays $500.00 now and the rest later pays:

Because each payment rounds on its own, a job paid in several parts can come out a cent away from the same job paid at once.
Stripe’s processing fee is separate
Stripe charges its own processing fee on the same payment, at the rates on your Stripe account, and it is charged on the whole amount the customer paid, tax included — that part is Stripe’s rule, not ours. LakeOps’ fee is not a markup on Stripe’s: the two are separate deductions from the same payment, and your payout is the payment minus both. See payouts.
Where to see it
- In your Stripe dashboard, on each payment: Stripe’s fee and the LakeOps application fee are listed as separate lines. You are never invoiced for the fee; it comes off the payment when the payment is made.
- In LakeOps, the revenue report shows the total service fee for the date range you pick, net of anything refunds gave back.
When you refund
A refund made from LakeOps gives back the matching share of our fee. A refund made in your Stripe dashboard, and a chargeback, do not. The details are in refunds and who pays the fees.
